Zufälligerweise habe ich erfahren, dass genau heute, eines der größten Woodies Treffen direkt in Santa Cruz auf dem Pier stattfindet.
Zuerst konnte ich mit dem Begriff Woodie nichts anfangen, ein netter Herr vom Santa Cruz Woodie Club erläuterte mir dies aber dann. Da wohl auch einige unter euch nicht wissen was ein Woodie ist, versuche ich das mal so gut es geht zu erklären. Die Bilder erklären jedoch dann den Rest!

Ein Woodie ist ein Fahrzeug, dass außen sichtbar Holz an der Karosserie trägt.
Nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg erklärte man mir, geschah das hauptsächlich aus Stahlmangel, davor aus Gewohnheit und wurde vom Kutschenbau abgeleitet.
Das ganze stoppte dann aus Sicherheitsgründen in den 60iger Jahren, bis 2008 produzierte Ford jedoch noch weitere Fahrzeuge im Holzoptik Stil.

Auf dem Pier befanden sich ca. 200 Woodie Fahrzeuge in allen verschiedenen Baujahren. Die Woodies sind schön anzusehen da sie einen gewissen Retro-Look verleihen. Seht selbst.
